Define the trip before the boat
Write down the region, preferred dates, number of day guests, number sleeping aboard and whether anyone in the group expects to skipper. Add one sentence describing the day you want: relaxed island time, a celebration, a family holiday or a sailing-focused trip.
That short brief prevents a large or photogenic vessel from becoming the default choice when a different layout or charter style would suit the group better.

Build a shortlist from published facts
Use length, cabins, berths and maximum guests as separate signals. Berths are sleeping places; maximum guests may describe a day-trip limit. Open the operator page as well as the vessel page to understand the wider fleet and where the company sails.
Keep two or three boats on the shortlist and send comparable questions to each relevant operator.
Ask for the complete offer
Request the exact vessel, dates, boarding point, charter duration, skipper arrangement, total current price and a written list of inclusions and extras. Ask what changes if weather or vessel availability affects the plan.
Before paying, read the operator’s terms and confirm the name of the party you are contracting with.

Prepare for handover
Save the marina address, arrival time, contact number and any qualification documents together. For a bareboat trip, allow time for the vessel and area briefing. For a hosted trip, confirm what guests should bring and what the crew supplies.
