A couples’ charter can mean a private sunset sail, a shared day trip or several nights with friends. Define the atmosphere before choosing the biggest available boat.
Define private
Ask whether the vessel is exclusively booked for your group, whether crew remain aboard throughout and whether any spaces are shared with other guests. “Private charter” can still include professional crew, which may be exactly what the group wants.
Allocate cabins and bathrooms
For two or more couples, compare similar-quality cabins rather than the total berth count alone. Ask which cabins have direct bathroom access, how storage differs and where crew sleep.

Set the desired pace
Choose whether the priority is sailing, swimming, dining, scenery or time at anchor. A long list of stops can undermine a relaxed trip. Give the operator one or two priorities and ask what is realistic for the duration.
Plan food and small occasions
Confirm catering, BYO drinks, refrigeration, dietary needs and any policy for cakes, flowers or decorations. For proposals or anniversaries, discuss the plan discreetly with the operator and keep a weather-tolerant alternative.
Price the complete experience
Compare exclusivity, skipper, catering, duration, fuel, cleaning and overnight inclusions together. A smaller vessel with the right service and layout may create more value than a larger headline option.
