Learn the actual boat
Cover engines, steering, anchoring, sails where relevant, electrical systems, water, gas, toilets, safety equipment and emergency contacts. Ask questions against the specific vessel rather than relying on experience with a similar model.
Understand the operating area
Record any route, anchoring, weather, daylight or radio limits. Ask how to contact support and what the operator expects if equipment fails or plans change.
Document condition and return
Follow the operator’s process for noting existing damage and equipment condition. Confirm fuel, waste, cleaning and return-time expectations before leaving.
